About CVS Hamilton, East Kilbride

The aim of CVS Hamilton/East Kilbride is to support local voluntary sector groups and organisations to make a real difference to their local community. CVS Hamilton/East Kilbride is located in the Voluntary Sector Support Centre in Hamilton, which acts as a hub for voluntary and community sector support in South Lanarkshire.
The six core services that CVS Hamilton/East Kilbride provide to the voluntary sector in the region are:
- Understanding the local voluntary sector
- Holds up to date information on the profile of the voluntary sector in the area
- Is familiar with the local concerns and needs of the voluntary sector
- Understands the national policy context in relation to the local environment
- Identifies the economic value of the local voluntary sector
- Communicating with the voluntary sector
- Communicates relevant up to date information to the local voluntary sector
- Facilitates networking between organisations to promote opportunities for them to respond to emerging issues
- Publishes a bi monthly newsletter to all local groups registered with the service
- Representing the interests of the local voluntary sector
- Works to ensure it represents the local voluntary sector at the strategic level at the local Community Planning Partnership
- Facilitates participation in thematic community planning forums
- Provides representation on various Compact, Rural, and Social Economy partnerships
- Works with other intermediary organisations (public and private) to ensure that the views and interests of the local voluntary sector are represented.

The CVS network has a standardised framework to ensure that voluntary groups, community organisations, funders, partner agencies and the public have a clear understanding of the services they can expect from their local CVS. The depth and range of services undertaken by individual CVS will be determined in part by the human and financial resources available to them and the environment in which they operate. Some CVS may deliver services in partnerships or by directing to the appropriate provider.
