As part of the national ‘Interface’ programme a new unitary organisation is being formed to address the key strategic issues affecting the voluntary sector in South Lanarkshire. The new organisation will be responsible for the support of voluntary and community organisations, support and promotion of volunteering, development of social enterprise and the better alignment of the sector within the community planning process.

The Managing Director will be responsible for the strategic direction of the new organisation, and its future management, governance and development towards the provision of a full range of high quality services to the communities of South Lanarkshire. He/she will also assist in the change process of existing organisations into a single body and the transfer of staff and assets to the new organisation.

Candidates should have :

• extensive experience within the public, voluntary or community sector at a senior level
• experience in managing a complex organisation particularly through a period of change
• a clear understanding of current policy issues and developments affecting the voluntary sector
• excellent leadership and communication skills
• experience of partnership working at a strategic level
